#23 Cal State Northridge 9, Sonoma State 6 -- Box Score
The Seawolves kept things close against the Matadors early Sunday morning, trailing by one goal after the first period of play thanks to goals from
Lyndsie Williams and
Carleigh Robinson to put the score at 3-2 in favor of CSUN. The Division I Matadors scored on back-to-back possessions to begin the second quarter before
Taylor Brown threw one in with 4:47 left before halftime to make the score 5-3.
However, CSUN caged three unanswered goals -- and four of the next five goals in the contest -- to pull away for the 9-6 win.
Brown led the way with two goals while Robinson, Williams,
Cassidy Mundt and
Nicole Groat all added one score each.
Taylor Plorin got the start in the cage, making four saves before

Marist 10, Sonoma State 9 -- Box Score
The fourth and final game of the UCSB Winter Invite for the Seawolves saw a back-and-forth battle from start to finish with another Division I program, Marist. After Groat broke the scoreless tie at 5:23 in the opening stanza, the Redfoxes responded with three goals to take a 3-1 lead. From then on, the two teams traded scores until late in the third quarter when Marist scored twice to take a 8-5 lead into the final eight minutes of regulation.
The two squads again engaged in a see-saw affair and as time began to run out on SSU, the Redfoxes punched one in with just under three minutes to play to go up 10-7.
Mundt and Robinson gave the Seawolves hope, scoring on back-to-back possessions with time running down, but it was too little too late as Marist escaped with the narrow 10-9 win over Sonoma.
Lily Carlon and Robinson both had two goals while Williams, Mundt,
Nicole Cunningham, Groat and Brown all had one goal. Plorin made six saves and one steal in the cage for SSU.
