Fresno, Calif. – Sonoma State finished the regular season 7-14 over after falling 14-7 to Fresno Pacific in its final Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) game.

The Seawolves travel to Ohio at the end of next week for the WWPA championship tournament.

Madelyn Potts led Sonoma States scoring efforts against the Sunbirds with a season-high three goals.Â

Sonoma State scored the game's opening goal, followed by four Sunbird goals. At 2:19
Hailey Gellert got the Seawolves within one-point of the Sunbirds with a power-play goal assisted by
Jordan Williams (4-3). Just under a minute left, Williams added a goal of her own by way of
Kelly Failner. With 30 seconds remaining on the clock Fresno Pacific scratched a pair of goals to gain a 6-3 lead.

The Sunbirds strung three goals together early in the second, answered by a goal by Failner (assisted by Williams) and Potts (assisted by
Brooke Sullivan) to make the score 8-5. Two more goals by the Sunbirds and Potts' second goal of the game brought the halftime score to 11-6.

Strong defense by both teams saw only four goals between the two in the final 16-minutes of the game.Â
