The Seawolves gained an early 3-1 lead despite the Sunbirds scoring the game's opening goal —
Hailey Gellert with back-to-back possession assisted by
Kelly Failner and
Annika Erickson. Erickson herself added the third goal with 40 seconds remaining in the opening period.Â

Fresno Pacific lessened the Seawolves lead with the opening goal of the second quarter (3-2) at 5:36. Sonoma State answered back with its next possession with a goal by
Amanda Weddle (assisted by
Amber Hellickson) to double the Seawolves lead 4-2.
Taylor Brooks added a goal of her own at 4:36 (assisted by
Kelly Failner) to extend the Seawolves hold on the Sunbirds to 5-2. Within 30 seconds each team added a goal the Sunbirds struck at 1:23 and
Jordan Williams with an assist by
Hailey Gellert brought the score to 6-3. With 43 seconds left in the first half, Weddle found the back of the cage with help from Erickson for a half time lead of 7-3.

Weddle was credited the Seawolves two goals in the second half at 7:30 and 4:49. Fresno Pacific notched four to get within two goals of the Seawolves 9-7.

Sonoma State was outscored 10-7 in the second half as the Sunbirds shot back to back goals in the fourth with less than two minutes remaining to get within one goal of the Seawolves (13-12), then again at .41. Gellert found the back of the net three times in the fourth quarter.

The Seawolves never lost their lead, securing its 14-13 victory over the Sunbirds.
