Rohnert Park, CA - This Saturday the Sonoma State women's water polo squad open's up their conference play at home against the East Bay Pioneers. The Seawolves come into the contest posing a 2-6 record, however, including some very tight and competitive losses against a challenging opening schedule. The Pioneers come in with a similar record at 2-5 recording both wins against Fresno Pacific. Coach
Chelsea Hennan and her group come into the match ranking just outside the top 25 nationally ranked teams in the country, having received votes just this past week. East Bay joins the Seawolves in a similar position having also received votes in the latest poll, making this contest a particularly intriguing one on the weekend.
Sonoma State has secured two wins in an always competitive and difficult schedule against Azusa Pacific and Ottawa University at the Cross Conference Challenge in Arizona. Another notable game on the season thus far has been their narrow defeat to the nationally ranked Tigers of University of Pacific, 13-12. At the time UOP was ranked in the top 10 nationally making the Seawolves quite the underdog. Each period Sonoma was always in the game and had every chance to get the win at the end. The Seawolves also recorded a close loss to 19th ranked Princeton 9-7 in Arizona. Coach
Chelsea Hennan was incredibly proud of her teams effort in the match and felt they had every right to come out on top.

Cassidy Mundt leads her team with 43 total shots and 19 goals. Mundt was a missing piece for the Seawolves as she red-shirted due to injury last season.

Brooke Sullivan has taken the majority of the starts in goal for the Seawolves thus far. She has 35 saves on 89 shots faced for a save percentage of .393.
