ROHNERT PARK, CALIF. - On Wednesday, November 9th, the 2022 CCAA All-Conference teams were unveiled with four members of the Sonoma State volleyball team earning all-conference accolades as the team prepares for their quarterfinal match against Cal State East Bay tomorrow night. Veterans
Kiana Richardson and
Jen Trephan would lead the way and be named to the All-CCAA First Team for the first time in each of their respective careers.
Richardson now becomes a three-time all-conference recipient as she was named an Honorable Mention in 2019 and then Second Team all-conference in 2021. Her 270 kills this season leads the Seawolves and ranks 6th in the entire conference. Richardson has been a staple for SSU on the outside as she has played in 90 sets and tallied 325 total points, also good for the team lead.
Setter
Jen Trephan also earns her third career all-conference selection dating back to the 2019 season when she was named Second Team All-CCAA. After another second team selection for her efforts in 2021, Trephan would have a career year this season and be named to the All-CCAA First Team. Trephan is fresh off a conference player of the week honor just two weeks ago when she was named Setter of the Week. She currently ranks third on the team with 208 kills, second on the team with 277 total points, and fourth with 28 aces. Trephan continues to showcase her diverse skill set and has proven to be one of the team's most consistent players all season long. More impressively, Trephan ranks 1st on the team and 9th in the conference with over 500 assists.
Rounding out the all-conference selections were first time recipients
Jessie Hobbs and
Jaden Krist who each earned Honorable Mention status. Hobbs did a little bit of everything for the Seawolves as her quick attack in the middle of the floor has proven effective all season long. Hobbs is also one of just four players to have played in all 91 sets this season. She ranks in the top-5 on the team with 194 points, 154 kills and 56 blocks.
Outside hitter
Jaden Krist was an excellent counterpunch to Richardson as the two led the team in kills and combined for over 400 on the season. Krist sits right behind Richardson for the team lead with a career high 215 kills. Her breakout season allowed her to earn her first all-conference selection and help propel the team into their third straight conference tournament.
The Seawolves season continues this Thursday as they kickoff postseason action in the quarterfinals of the CCAA tournament. After earning the 5th seed, they will head to San Diego to take on the 4th seed in Cal State East Bay in a win or go home scenario. Head coach
Bear Grassl will make his program record 13th conference tournament appearance and have his sights set on an NCAA tournament appearance for the first time since 2017.
Cal State San Marcos will play host to this year's tournament as the game is slated for a 5:30 PM start.
