ROHNERT PARK, CALIF. - Sonoma State's Lexi Zandonella-Arasa added another accolade to her impressive list of accomplishments for the 2022 season as she was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America second team.
 
Zandonella-Arasa is a sophomore majoring in Business Administration for the Seawolves. She helped lead Sonoma State to its third consecutive CCAA regular-season title and into the NCAA Regional for the seventh straight season. She was named the CCAA and the West Region Player of the Year, in addition to her D2CCA All-America selection.
 
The Concord led the west region in goals (14) and points (37) and tied for the lead in assists (9). Zandonella-Arasa scored in a CCAA-record six straight matches and capped it off with a two-goal performance against Stanislaus State.
 
The CSC Academic All-America awards are not given out lightly. Zandonella-Arasa is the first women's soccer student-athlete from the CCAA to earn the honor since two student-athletes in 2017 (Bailey Cockrill of Cal State San Marcos and Gabby Evaristo of Cal State San Bernardino). Eighteen of the 34 members of the Academic All-America® Division II women's soccer teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 12 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.97.
 
The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Division II Academic All-America® program.
