ROHNERT PARK, CALIF. - The Sonoma State basketball teams will kickoff conference action at home this Thursday, November 30th, against Cal state Dominguez Hills. The women will start the night off at 5:30 PM and the men will follow at 7:30 PM with both games being streamed LIVE on the CCAA Network.
Sonoma State Women's Basketball (4-1 overall, 0-0 CCAA)
Despite six players joining the program this year, second year head coach
Des Abeyta has led her group to four wins to start the season including quality region wins over Saint Martin's and Western Oregon. The Seawolves are fourth in the conference averaging over 70 points a game and are second in three point shooting at 38%.
SSU graduated some size but added outside shooting threats in transfer
Madisyn Clark and freshman
Sienna Cherwinski who are combining for 20 points a game to start the season.
The Seawolves are fresh off a 29-point home victory over PacWest member Academy of Art where they had all five starters finish in double figures. Junior forward
Alli McDonald is leading the way with a career high in scoring, averaging 16.8 points a game and fellow junior point guard
Jayme Blackard is off to a career season averaging 14 points and nearly three assists a game to lead the CCAA.
Sonoma State Men's Basketball (3-2 overall, 0-0 CCAA)
Head men's basketball coach
Rich Shayewitz is in his third season leading the men's program but has been a part of both Sonoma State basketball programs for over 20 years. Despite losing eight players from last year's roster, Shayewitz added five impactful transfers including the team's leading scorer in
Andrew Henderson.
The Seawolves got off to a 3-0 start including a pair of wins over PacWest members Academy of Art and Dominican in the San Francisco State Tip-Off Classic. They have lost back-to-back games to finish their non-conference schedule but rank inside the top five in the conference in field goal and three point percentage with four players averaging double figures.

Dillon Iyawe also averaging double figures for the Seawolves through their first five games. Returners
Nick Medeiros and
Julian Bryant are combining for 14 points a game and SSU is shooting an efficient 46% from the field.
