ROHNERT PARK, CALIF. - Sonoma State's
Charlie Johnson has been named the CCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of Mar. 13-19.
Johnson did not allow an earned run over 14 innings while picking up two wins against Cal State Monterey Bay. The freshman allowed just 10 hits and two walks while striking out three.Â
On Friday, Johnson came into the game in the second inning and did not allow a run over the final six innings as her team overcame a two-run deficit to win 6-4. It was Johnson's first career win.Â
On Saturday, she pitched a scoreless inning in relief in the first game before starting the nightcap. In her first career start, the Rancho Bernardo native threw a seven-hit shutout. She struck out two and walked only one to earn her second win in as many days.Â
Johnson has not allowed a run in 24 consecutive innings. She leads the CCAA and ranks fourth in NCAA Division II with a 0.47 ERA.Â
She is the second Sonoma State student-athlete to earn CCAA Pitcher of the Week honors in 2023. She joins
