Anna Zoia-Buescher claimed CCAA Softball Player of the Week for the week of April 3-9.
Zoia-Buescher hit .600 over six games as Sonoma State picked up five more in-region wins. The junior outfielder went 12-for-20 at the plate with two doubles, four RBI, and eight runs scored. She also had four walks and six stolen bases. Zoia-Buescher posted a .667 on-base percentage and a 1.367 OPS for the week.
Zoia-Buescher hit safely in every game, including a pair of three-hit performances against GNAC-foe Montana State Billings. In the opener, Zoia-Buescher went 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base. In the nightcap, she scored two more times and added two stolen bases to go along with her three hits. In the doubleheader, she was 6-of-7 with two doubles, two RBI, four runs, and three stolen bases.
In the four-game series against Cal State East Bay, Zoia-Buescher collected six more hits and scored four runs. She had the game-winning RBI in the series finale when she brought home
Reagan Hunt in the third inning to break a 1-1 tie and help the Seawolves win their third consecutive series.
The Santa Rosa native is pacing the CCAA and ranks 12th in NCAA Division II with her .483 batting average. She is also the conference leader in hits (58), runs scored (38), and on-base percentage (.533).
This is the second CCAA Player of the Week honor for Zoia-Buescher in 2023 and the third of her career. She won the opening week of the 2023 season after hitting .700 against Saint Martin's.
