ROHNERT PARK, CALIF. – On Thursday, August 10th, the 2023 Sonoma State women's soccer schedule was released with the Seawolves opening up regular season play on Thursday, August 31st. Head coach
Emiria Salzmann enters her 13th year leading the program and is fresh off her third straight CCAA Regular Season title dating back to 2019. The Seawolves add some new opponents to their non-conference schedule this season including Colorado Springs and Biola, becoming the first matchups with both schools since 2000. SSU will kick things off with a three game homestand with Colorado Springs, Biola and Azusa Pacific. They will conclude their non-conference schedule on the road at Dominican and west region rival Western Washington.
Sonoma State has become one of the best women's soccer programs in the west region, making the last seven NCAA Tournaments and recording four league championships all under head coach
Emiria Salzmann. Last season, the Seawolves finished 7-2-2 in conference play to record their third straight league title. They would pull off a thrilling overtime victory in the semifinals of the conference tournament over Chico State before falling in the championship match to Cal State LA. The Seawolves would also add four CCAA individual awards for their conference success including Freshman of the Year, Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year, and Coach of the Year.
Their success would qualify them for the program's 18th NCAA Tournament appearance before seeing their season come to an end after a 0-1 defeat to Point Loma Nazarene. The Seawolves will take on Colorado Springs on Thursday, August 31st at 1:30 PM at the Seawolf Soccer Field to open up their 2023 regular season.
