Seawolves Record 5th top-3 Finish in 2023-24 Campaign, Finish t-3rd at Tim Tierney

ALAMEDA, CALIF. - On Tuesday, February 27th, the Sonoma State women's golf team concluded their first event of the 2024 spring season at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout. After a solid first day of action, the Seawolves hung on for a t-3rd place team finish behind a 3-over-par final round performance from sophomore Avery Foster. Foster finished the week 4-over-par good for a top-10 finish. SSU's Lauren Garcia also snuck in the top-10 as she made a big push on the final day recording a solid 73 (+1) performance.

The Seawolves were alone in second place after Monday's round at 299 (+11). All four counting scores recorded rounds of 4-over-par or better with Foster leading the way with a 73 (+1). Reigning CCAA Freshman of the Year Talia Gutman followed with a first round performance of just 2-over-par, recording a team high four birdies on the day. Lauren Garcia and Courtney Cervellin were both 4-over-par to round out the scoring for SSU.

The Seawolves would slip into a tie for third at the conclusion of the second round but got solid performances once again from Foster and Garcia. Talia Gutman and Brenna Ozel would represent the other two counting scores at +7 and +8. Amelia Gladys and Aly Hutchinson also competed as individuals for the Seawolves. Gladys finished 11-over-par in her two rounds to finish t-29th. Hutchinson would finish +27 good for t-82nd. Final round leaderboard and scores can be found HERE

Despite the delayed start to their spring season with the LA Spring Kickoff being canceled due to rain earlier this month, the Seawolves continue to put together solid performance after solid performance, recording top three finishes in all five events during the 2023-24 year. SSU will be off next week before heading south for the Fujikura Invitational hosted by fellow CCAA member Cal State San Marcos. Live stats and tournament results can be found at sonomaseawolves.com.
