DAYTON, Ohio -- Former Sonoma State soccer star Cam Vickers has made another step in his professional soccer career, signing a contract to play with Dayton Dutch Lions FC during the 2014 season. Vickers played at Sonoma State from 2008 to 2010 and helped lead the Seawolves to three NCAA Tournament appearances and a pair of CCAA championships (2008 and 2010).
The Lake Tapps, Washington native ranks second in school history with 31 assists. He also scored nine goals and is 15th all-time with 49 points.
Vickers played in 2013 with Phoenix FC, leading the squad in assists and making 15 appearances. He has also put in time with Portland Timbers U-23 Team.
Said Dayton Dutch Lions' head coach Sid van Druenen, "Vickers is an old-fashioned winger who can get up and down the wing all game and can send a quality ball into the box. He brings USL Pro experience to our roster."
Vickers looks forward to the season, "I'm very excited about joining the team this season. I admired the style of play that they had last season and am happy to be a part of it this year. I'm ready for the season to start so we can make some noise in the USL."
The USL Professional Division, commonly known as USL Pro, is a professional men's soccer league in the United States that began its inaugural season in 2011. USL Pro is the third-highest league in the US Soccer hierarchy, behind Major League Soccer (MLS) and the North American Soccer League (NASL).
