SSU Men's Soccer To Host Burlingame Dragons FC In Friendly

ROHNERT PARK, Calif.  --  The Sonoma State men's soccer team is excited to announce a spring season friendly on Sunday, May 3rd at 4:00 pm against Burlingame Dragons FC (@burlingamefc), the new PDL affiliate of the San Jose Earthquakes.  The game will serve as a capstone to the spring season, but also as a fundraiser for the Sonoma State men's soccer team.

"We are excited to bring the Burlingame Dragons to Sonoma County and hope to see lots of fans at the game," said SSU head coach Marcus Ziemer.  "We have an exciting team so this should be a fun game.  This will be our final spring exhibition match in a challenging schedule, which includes road games against Humboldt State, SRJC, St Mary's, UOP, Stanford and CSU, Northridge."

The Seawolves return nearly the entire roster from a team that went 8-8-2 in 2014.  They hope to use this game to raise funds for a summer pre-season trip to Europe.

The European trip, which will include stops in Holland, Belgium, and Germany will not only allow the team to get a jump on the 2015 season, but it will introduce cultural and educational opportunities to student-athletes.  With tours of historical sights in addition to games and training sessions with European sides, past trips in 2002 and 2006, and 2011 have been incredible learning experiences for student-athletes and coaches.

Ticket prices for the friendly are $7 for general admission, $5 for seniors, and $2 for children 12 and under.  The event is free for SSU students, faculty, and staff.
