ROHNERT PARK, Calif- Sonoma State held No. 14 Hartwick to just one goal through one quarter, but the Hawks put the ball in the net 15 times over the final three to take a 16-8 victory on Saturday evening in Rohnert Park. The Hawks improve to 15-9 while the Seawolves drop to 11-11.
Tied at one after one, the Hawks scored nine times in the second quarter to go up 10-3 at the break. After being outscored 9-2 in the second quarter, SSU was only outscored 6-5 the rest of the way.
Jessica McKee led the Hawks with four goals, all of them coming in the second quarter. Christina Evans also had four goals while Lisa Gibson pitched in with two.
Holly Armijo and
Sara Watt had two goals each to lead Sonoma State.
Lysa Lombard made five saves, including several nice ones in the first quarter.;
The Seawolves' home game against UC Santa Cruz scheduled for Sunday has been canceled due to a scheduling conflict on the Banana Slugs' part. Next up for Sonoma State is a match against the number one team in the nation, UCLA, the alma mater of SSU head coach
