LONG BEACH, Calif- Playing a nationally ranked team for the third time this weekend, the Sonoma State water polo team was defeated by No. 13 Long Beach State, 11-5 on Sunday afternoon in Long Beach. The loss leaves the Seawolves with an 11-14 overall record after this weekend's gauntlet of a schedule.
In a span of about 24 hours, the Seawolves took on No. 1 UCLA, No. 4 Hawaii, and No. 13 Long Beach State.
Long Beach State got out to leads of 4-2 after one and 7-3 at the break. In the second half, the Seawolves buckled down on defense, allowing the 49ers only two goals.
Samantha Mullins and
Jessica Scott each had two goals for Sonoma State.
The Seawolves will take on Cal State East Bay on Friday in their final home game of the season.
