SAN JOSE, Calif-
Samantha Burchard scored three goals on Saturday afternoon to lead Sonoma State in a 15-10 loss to ninth-ranked San Jose State at the Campus Aquatics Center in San Jose. It was the fourth time the Seawolves have played a team ranked in the top thirteen in the country in their last five games. SSU goes to 12-15 on the season.
The Seawolves continue to play well against the nation's elite. Following battles against UCLA, Long Beach State, and Hawaii, the Seawolves went into the half on Saturday trailing by just one goal at 6-5. The Spartants were able to pull away in the second half with nine goals to SSU's five.
Burchard led the way with three goals and SSU got two from
Laurel Stricklin and
Samantha Mullins.
Lysa Lombard had four saves in goal.
Next up for the Seawolves is the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Championships, to be held April 25th through 27th at Loyola Marymount.
