Water Polo Wins WWPA Opener Over Pioneers

LOS ANGELES, Calif-  A strong defensive effort helped No. 6 Sonoma State to an 8-5 win over No. 11 Cal State East Bay in game two of the WWPA Women's Water Polo Championship on Friday at the Burns Recreation and Aquatics Center in Los Angeles.  The Seawolves will now play UC San Diego at 2:45 on Friday.

With the scored tied at one entering the third quarter, the Seawolves erupted for four unanswered goals to break the game open.  After a quick Pioneer goal to break the run, SSU's Brooke Smith scored to push the lead back to four.

Eight different players scored for the Seawolves in the win.
