Water Polo Ends Season In Thrilling Fashion

Jenna Bole scored the golden goal for SSU in triple overtime
LOS ANGELES, Calif-  Senior Jenna Bole scored in sudden death overtime to lift Sonoma State to a 9-8 win over Cal State Monterey Bay at the WWPA Championships on Saturday in Los Angeles.  With the win, the Seawolves claim seventh place in the WWPA.  They end the season with a record of 14-17.  The Otters close out the year at 17-14.

Trailing 7-6 late in the fourth quarter, Samantha Mullins scored the third of her four goals with under two minutes remaining to send the game to overtime.  It looked like the Seawolves might win it in the closing seconds of regulation, but Laurel Stricklin's shot from point-blank range was saved by Otter goalie Jenna Beer.

In the first overtime, Chelsea Laning of CSUMB scored at the 2:03 mark to put her team up 8-7.  SSU answered in the second on Mullins' fourth goal of the game to knot it at eight and send the game to a third, sudden death overtime.
