BLAINE, Wash- Three Sonoma State golfers shot a 68 on Tuesday to push the Seawolves all the way to second place at the NCAA Division II Preview Tournament at Loomis Trail Golf and Country Club in Blaine, Washington. The Seawolves were in tenth place after round one and shot 275 as a team in round three to leapfrog the field.
The tournament served as a preview for next spring's NCAA Division II Championship.
The Seawolves played so well in round three that they actually threw out
Spencer Shishido's round of 72.
Jarin Todd shot 68 as did two SSU newcomers,
Ryan Carter and
Keith Rodriguez.
Patrick Bauer carded a 71.
For the tournament, Todd finished sixth overall at 72-73-68--213.
Patrick Bauer shot a consistent 72-71-71--214 to finish ninth. Carter placed 21st and Shishido and Rodriguez tied for 50th.
The 14th-ranked Seawolves (863) finished just four strokes behind Central Oklahoma (859). The Seawolves finished ahead of 12 ranked schools including No. 2 South Carolina-Aiken and No. 3 Saint Edward's.
Next up for the Seawolves is the InterWest Chico State Invitational, October 13th and 14th at Butte Creek Country Club.
