RIVERSIDE, CALIF.- Sonoma State Men's Golf made the trip to southern California where freshman Cambron Nevill and Ivan Sablan led their team with Nevill's strong play earning him a spot at the upcoming NCAA Division II National Championship tournament!
Nevill spectacular through three rounds of play resulting in him shooting nine under-par across the 54 holes of golf. Nevill only had four bogeys in the tournament against a stellar 13 birdies. He saved his best for last climbing 11 spots in the leaderboards on day three while shooting four under par! Nevill would finish the tournament with an eighth place individual finish out of over 110 individual athletes!
Alongside Nevill, Ivan Sablan also had a strong showing claiming a top 20 finish. Sablan had a solid first day on the greens where he was two strokes under-par. On the second day he slowed down a bit with a still solid even day on the course. But, he rallied on the final day of play shooting three under-par and flying up the player leaderboards by 22 spots to get back in the top 20. Sablan has been outstanding for the Seawolves all year long and it was no surprise to see him finish the tournament with a strong rally.
Cambron Nevill is now set to head to the NCAA National Tournament which will take place on May 19th in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida!
