Volleyball Sweeps Past Chico State In Three

Keala Peterson had another big night on Friday in Chico.
CHICO, Calif-  Sonoma State got a game-high 16 kills from Keala Peterson to roll past Chico State in three sets on Friday night at Acker Gym.  The 18th-ranked Seawolves won by scores of 25-23, 25-22, and 25-15 to improve to 21-6, 13-6 CCAA while the Wildcats drop to 21-8, 12-7 CCAA.

Sonoma got out to an early 10-3 lead in set one, though the Wildcats would slowly, but surely claw their way back into it.  The Wildcats were able to finally whittle the lead down to one at 23-22 and 24-23 before a Sarah Illingworth kill ended it.

Chico would lead for much of the second set, but a consistent attack from Peterson and Ali Walker gave the Seawolves a narrow 25-22 victory.

When the teams emerged from the intermission, Sonoma State had clearly captured the momentum as they raced to a 17-6 lead and never turned back.

Peterson's 16 kills came against just three errors and in 31 attacks for a .319 hitting percentage.  Ally Sather had seven kills and Lindsay Brown led all players with 37 assists.

Mackenzie Snyder paced the Wildcats with 16 kills and Jessica Leek added eight.

The Seawolves will take on Cal State Stanislaus on Saturday evening in Turlock.
