SANTA CLARA, Calif- The Sonoma State water polo team suffered two more defeats Sunday afternoon at the Nor Cal-Cup, losing to Santa Clara in double overtime 8-7, and 14-9 to San Jose State.
In their best showing of the tournament, Sonoma road the hot hand of
Samantha Mullins but came up just short of knocking off Santa Clara in double overtime. Mullins had a season-high five goals to lead the Seawolves, and
Jackie Snyder and
Sarah Watt each pitched in a goal.
Lysa Lombard grabbed five saves and one steal.
Sonoma concluded the Nor-Cal Cup with a hard fought loss to San Jose State in the afternoon game. Six Seawolves scored including two a piece for
Courtney Rider,
Andrea Brookbank, and
Samantha Mullins.
Emily Pearce and
Kiane Taparra each posted two assists as well.
The Seawolves return to the pool Feb. 6 when they square off against Cal State Monterey Bay at 1:00 p.m.
