BAKERSFIELD, Calif- Spurred by a third round 71 by sophomore
Patrick Bauer, the Sonoma State men's golf team concluded Tuesday's play at the Elco Inc. Intercollegiate at Bakersfield's Seven Oaks Country Club in second place, giving them a nice start to the spring season. The fifth-ranked Seawolves finished second in a field of 19 teams, five of which are nationally-ranked.
Nova Southeastern won the team competition handily, finishing the event with a team score of 850 (-14). Sonoma State was second at 865 (+1), followed by Northeastern State at 868 (+4) and Western Washington at 875 (+11).
Individually, the Seawolves placed two golfers in the top six. Bauer (69-74-71) and senior
Jarin Todd (66-74-74) were both at 214, eight strokes behind Tain Lee of Claremont Mudd Scripps.
Rounding out the Seawolves' squad were
Jeremy Wendelken (71-72-77--220),
Tyler Schmuckle (70-76-75--221), and
Janssen Todd (73-74-75--222).
The Seawolves are back in action in two weeks when they take on the field at the Notre Dame de Namur Invitaitonal.
