Illingworth, Walker Lead Seawolves To Victory

Sarah Illingworth led all players with 12 kills on Wednesday night.
ROHNERT PARK, Calif- Sonoma State seniors Sarah Illingworth and Ali Walker combined for 22 kills, helping the red hot Seawolves to a three-set victory (25-8, 25-14, 25-14) over the visiting Humboldt State Lumberjacks in women's volleyball action Wednesday night at The Wolves' Den. With the win, Sonoma State, ranked 13th in the nation, goes to a perfect 11-0 overall and 3-0 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play. Humboldt State falls to 5-6 (1-2 CCAA).

Humboldt State scored the first two points of the match before Sonoma State went on a blistering 14-0 run, including three service aces by senior Lindsay Brown. The Seawolves continued to put on the pressure, getting out to a 19-3 lead at one point of the first set. With 12 kills, two errors in 28 attacks (.357), Sonoma State took set one easily, 25-8.

Sets two and three were owned by the Seawolves as well, only allowing 18 Lumberjack kills in the whole match, as Humboldt State hit at a dismal .045 clip on Wednesday. Sophomore Taylor Krenwinkel had 17 digs to lead the Seawolves and Brown and Walker added 11.

Illingworth led all players with 12 kills and Walker had 10 hammers in the victory. Brown set a new three-set season high against Humboldt State, handing out 40 assists and totaled five service aces.

For Humboldt State, Danielle Wells had seven kills and Oceana Matsubu had 17 digs.

Sonoma State will put its undefeated record on the line Friday evening at San Francisco State, starting at 7 p.m. in San Francisco. The Gators have been a surprise so far this season and will go into Friday's match with the Seawolves at 8-2 overall and 1-1 in the CCAA.
