Water Polo Hangs Tough Against No. 1 Stanford

STANFORD, Calif-  Tied after one period and down just two at the half, the Sonoma State water polo team played tough against the No. 1 ranked team in the nation, Stanford, before falling 17-6.  Laurel Stricklin scored four goals to lead the Seawolves.  It was the eighth loss of the season for the Seawolves (1-8) and all have come against teams ranked in the collegiate water polo top 25.

The Seawolves proved they would be no pushover when they ended the first period tied at four.  Stanford would outscore Sonoma 3-1 in the second period, but it wouldn't be until the third when the Cardinal began to pull away.  Stanford would out goal the Seawolves 10-1 in the second half.

Next up for the Seawolves is their own tournament, the Seawolf Splash, which will be held at Sonoma State on February 20th and 21st.
