ROHNERT PARK, Calif- In Sonoma State's final match of the Seawolf Splash, the Seawolves were simply overmatched by No. 4 UCLA, losing to the Bruins 24-4. Sonoma State finishes their tournament run with a 1-3 record and a 2-11 mark on the season, with all loses coming from ranked opposition. The Bruins, meanwhile, picked up both of their tournament wins today while improving to 9-3 on the season.
Four about four minutes in the first quarter, Sonoma State kept it close with UCLA.
Laurel Stricklin put the Seawolves on top early scoring the first of her two goals in the match. After both teams broke even at two, the Bruins went on a long scoring run that set up UCLA big for the remainder of the match. The Bruins would outscore the Seawolves 18-2 over the final three quarters.
Stricklin led the Seawolves with two goals, while
Natalie Del Carlo and
Lindsay Rangel both scored for Sonoma State.
Gina Uliana had eight saves in the cage.
UCLA received solid contributions from the entire roster. Nine players scored two goals, while a total of thirteen players put points on the board for the Bruins.
Sonoma State will return to action when they participate in the Aggie Shootout hosted by UC Davis on March 6th against Cal State Bakersfield.
