Water Polo Bested By No. 15 UC Davis On Saturday

Lindsay Rangel scored twice for the Seawolves on Saturday.
ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  The Sonoma State water polo team put forth a fine effort on Saturday morning against the nation's 15th-ranked team, but it was not enough as UC Davis emerged with a 10-4 win.  The Seawolves got a pair of goals from Lindsay Rangel in the loss.

The Aggies (10-5) got out to a quick start, netting three goals in the first two minutes and five in the first quarter.  This would turn out to be the highest scoring period of the game as the teams settled into a defensive battle from there on out.

Trailing 5-1 after one, the Seawolves held even with the Aggies in the second quarter, and went into the break down four at 7-3.

Just one goal was scored in the third quarter and after Rangel scored her second goal of the game with 3:52 left in the match, it looked like the Seawolves might be able to sneak up on the Aggies.  However, the remaining Seawolf attempts were denied and UC Davis picked up a couple of late goals, including one with eight seconds left to seal the victory.

In addition to Rangel's two goals, the Seawolves got single scores from Natalie Del Carlo and Monica Tasier.  The Aggies got two goals from Carmen Eggert and one from each of eight other players.

Kelsey Goode made seven saves in the cage for Sonoma.

Sonoma State (4-18) will take on The Olympic Club in an exhibition at 2:00 pm on Saturday before returning to regular season action on Tuesday against Cal State Monterey Bay and George Washington University.
