SANTA CLARA, Calif- After a 16-8 loss to eighth-ranked Loyola Marymount, the Sonoma State women's water polo team bounced back with an exciting 6-3 victory over WWPA-foe Cal State San Bernardino to highlight day one of The Bronco Invitational, hosted by Santa Clara University. The win over the Coyotes moves the Seawolves up to 7-24 this season and 2-9 in conference play.

Loyola Marymount jumped out to a large 12-3 lead after the opening half and didn't look back, cruising to the 16-8 win over Sonoma State in its first game of The Bronco Invite. The Lions scored four goals in the third, but was held scoreless in the fourth. The nine-goal deficit at halftime was too much, though, as the Seawolves could muster just five goals in the final 16 minutes.

Kyleigh Shea and Malina Lorring scored two goals apiece. Cari Albers, Jessica Stansfield, Lindsay Rangel and Monica Tasier also scored for Sonoma State. Kelsey Goode made three saves as the starting goalie while Taylor Basso came in during the second half and made two stops.

Laura Kunz led the way with two goals while Natalie Del Carlo, Jamie Bee, Shea and Tasier all scored. Goode had six saves in the cage.

Sonoma State will wrap up The Bronco Invitational on Sunday with matches against Cal State Bakersfield (10:40 a.m.) and San Jose State (5:20 p.m.).
