Jessica Stansfield scored three goals in the first three periods, but the Sonoma State women's water polo team was unable to overtime an eight-goal deficit at half time, falling 16-6 to Colorado State in the fifth place game at the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Championship Tournament in Hayward. The Seawolves end their 2011 season with a 9-28 record.
Stansfield scored the first two goals for Sonoma State in the first half, but Colorado State jumped out to a large 10-2 lead after the first 16 minutes of the match. The Rams then matched the Seawolves' two goals in the third period before outscoring SSU 4-2 in the final frame to cruise to the ten-goal win.

Kelsey Lowy also scored a goal for Sonoma State on Sunday. Goalie
Taylor Basso made three saves in the cage. Stansfield was named to the WWPA All-Tournament Second Team after scoring eight goals in the three-day tournament, including the game-winner in overtime against Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday.
