The third and final set proved to be the toughest of the night for Sonoma State, as Humboldt State forced four ties and held the lead at the beginning of the set at 2-0 before SSU took the lead for good at 3-2. The 'Jacks would tie the set at 4-4, 7-7 and 10-10, and would even come to within three points at 23-20, but an attack error by HSU and a kill from Hull put the match away with a 25-20 win and the three-set win in just 65 minutes.
Danielle Carlson led HSU with nine kills and Ashley Neale added eight, combining for 17 of the team's 21 kills on the night. Tiffany McCray led all defenders with 16 digs.
Sonoma State will hit the road for a brief two-match road trip, beginning with a Friday night tilt with Cal State East Bay in Hayward. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
