TURLOCK, Calif. -- Three players combined for 31 kills, including a match-high 11 off the left hand of
Kelsey Hull, as the 14th-ranked Sonoma State volleyball team defeated host Cal State Stanislaus in three sets (25-19, 25-15, 25-16) on Saturday night at Fitzpatrick Arena in Turlock. The Seawolves improved to 21-5 overall and 14-4 in the CCAA while the Warriors dropped to 7-19 (4-14 CCAA).
In addition to her 11 kills, Hull recorded seven digs, had four assisted blocks and aced one serve for a total of 14.0 points.
Caylie Seitz had 10 kills and hit .381 as
Madelyn Densberger also chipped in with 10 kills, adding double-digit digs (13) and two assisted blocks.
Rachel Andrews was also a mighty force in the middle, pounding out eight kills with just one error in 16 swings, a .438 hitting percentage, and four assisted blocks.
Offensively as a team, the Seawolves hit .263 (46k-16e-114a) and led the Warriors in every statistical category, including kills (46-25), hitting percentage (.263-.092), assists (43-24), aces (4-2), digs (66-49), total blocks (6.0-0.0) and points (56.0-27.0).
Nicole Gragnola led the way defensively, making 23 digs.
Despite seven ties and five lead changes throughout the match, the Seawolves were in command for the majority of the one hour, 10 minute match. Paige Walker had a team-high nine kills for Cal State Stanislaus, which lost its fifth straight match.
Sonoma State will play two more matches on the road before returning home, starting with a Thursday night showdown in Arcata with Humboldt State at 7:00 pm before making the long trek south to Pomona to face off with Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday, also at 7:00 pm. The Seawolves then return home on Nov. 22-23 for the final two matches of the regular season.
