SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. --
Patrick Scott went for a team-high 19 points and Jabri Jenkins chipped in with a career-high 16 points off the bench, but the Sonoma State men's basketball, who led by six points with four minutes left in regulaton, ran out of gas late on Friday night, falling to host Cal State San Bernardino, 89-78, in overtime at Coussoulis Arena in San Bernardino to conclude the regular season.

With the loss and a UC San Diego win over San Francisco State, the Seawolves (11-15, 9-13 CCAA) will enter the CCAA tournament as the No. 8 seed and will play at top-seed Cal Poly Pomona on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.  The Coyotes (18-7, 16-6 CCAA), meanwhile, will be the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament and will host No. 7 seed UC San Diego, also on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.

More information about the CCAA tournament will be released by the conference office Saturday morning.  Stay tuned to goccaa.org for continued coverage and updated information about the tournament.

Sonoma State led by six points at the halftime break, 39-33, but Cal State San Bernardino came out on fire in the second half, outscoring SSU 16-2 in the opening four and a half minutes, but then found themselves down 59-57 seven minutes later.

A Jenkins' free throw gave the Seawolves a 67-61 lead with 4:09 left, but it didn't take long for the Coyotes to make their move.  Lacy Haddock hit a jumper and, after a steal by Kwame Alexander, Brian Goins hit a three-pointer and the Coyotes were within one point -- 67-66 with 3:09 left.

After another Seawolf turnover, the Coyotes had two opportunites to grab the lead, and on the third time, they did on a jumper from Alexander that put CSUSB up 68-67 with 2:11 left.  A Patrick Scott three-ball gave the Seawolves a two-point cushion, but the Coyotes tied the game at 70-70 when Alexander and Haddock each hit a free throw.

Justin Herold then gave SSU the lead back on a pair of free throws, but Haddock's floater just 14 seconds later tied the game at 72-72 with 31 seconds left.  After a Sonoma State timeout, the Seawolves had the final possession in regulation with 26 seconds to go.  Scott had the ball and drove in the lane, but Johnny Bell blocked his shot and the Seawolves could not recover.

In overtime, the Haddock gave the Coyotes the lead for good on a jumper, and then Joshua Gouch buried a three-pointer and CSUSB went up 77-72.  The hosts eventually built the lead to 11 three times before the buzzer sounded. They hit 9 of 10 from the line in the extra period.

Three Coyotes scored at least 20 points, led by Lacy Haddock and Kwame Alexander with 23 each and Brian Goins with 22.  Alexander had 23 points to go with 10 rebounds and Johnny Bell had 10 points with 12 boards, two blocks and three steals.  Tack on Haddock's point total and nine assists and CSUSB nearly had three players earn a double-double.

Scott, Jenkins and Will Olsem, who added 12 points in the loss, all scored in double figures as the Seawolves connected on 48.3 percent of their shots (29-60), including 43.5 percent (10-23) from three-point range.  In addition to Jenkins' career-high in points, he also added a career-best seven assists.

Sonoma State will fly home Saturday morning before returning to southern California on Monday for Tuesday's first round matchup at Cal Poly Pomona.  The winner of Tuesday's contest will move on to the semifinals of the CCAA tournament, set for next Friday at Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario.
