BOX SCORE #20 SONOMA STATE 5, CAL STATE SAN BERNARDINO 1 -- BOX SCORE

ROHNERT PARK -- Harmen Sidhu grabbed his fourth win of the season and the Sonoma State baseball team tallied five runs to secure a 5-1 series-opening win over the Coyotes of Cal State San Bernardino on Friday afternoon at Seawolf Diamond.  Sonoma State improves its record to 14-5, 6-3 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, while CSUSB drops to 9-12, 3-10 CCAA in the midst of an eight-game losing streak.

While Cal State San Bernardino was able to steal one run from Sidhu in the first inning, it would be their only run of the game.  In fact, after a Billy Hamilton RBI single to give CSUSB a 1-0 lead, Sidhu would not allow another hit until the seventh inning, giving up a single to Richard Mount, who would be stranded on first base.

Sonoma State plated one run in the second inning when Devon Zenn came home while Garrett Schwartz distracted the defense in a pickle-play, tying the game at 1-1.  In the third inning, Marcus Kimura drove in two runs to give Sonoma State a 3-1 lead on a single to right field, knocking in Jeffery Boulware and Scott Harkin.  The Seawolves crossed the plate once in the sixth inning by way of a wild pitch, and then once in the eighth inning due to a passed ball, giving the home team the eventual 5-1 winning score.

In addition to Sidhu's lights-out performance on the mound, Steven Zaharias recorded his third save of the season as he pitched the final one and one-third innings without allowing a hit.  Offensively, Schwartz drilled two doubles, going 2-for-2 at the plate, while six other Seawolves contributed one hit each.

For the Coyotes, starter James Trebus (2-2) was tagged with his second loss of the season by giving up three runs on five hits in five innings of work.  Kyle Abel and Phil Gonzalez came in on relief of Trebus and proceeded to give up one run each to the Seawolves.

The No. 20-ranked Seawolves will be back in action tomorrow to face off in a doubleheader against Cal State San Bernardino with the first pitch set for 11:00 am.
