SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Behind Jessica Stansfield's second hat trick in as many days at the WWPA Championship Tournament, Sonoma State was lifted to a 9-4 victory over the eight-seeded Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday morning in Santa Clara.  The Seawolves move to 13-19 overall on the season and will play in tomorrow's fifth place game.  The Coyotes fall to 6-28 overall and will play in Sunday's seventh place game against Cal State East Bay.

Sonoma State started off strong netting two goals in the first quarter, while blanking Cal State San Bernardino to take a 2-0 lead that they would not relinquish.  The Coyotes were able to claw back into this one in the second quarter, scoring two goals to SSU's one, but still trailed 3-2 at halftime.

Leading by one at the start of the third quarter, Sonoma State tallied two more goals to take a 5-3 lead into the final period.  The Seawolves built on their lead in the fourth quarter, scoring four more times, while only allowing CSUSB to net one score, en route to a 9-4 consolation semifinal victory.

In addition to Stansfield's aforementioned hat trick, Colette Reid recorded two goals in the winning effort.  Adrienne Bisharat, Laura Kunz, Natalie Del Carlo, and Alexa May pitched in with one goal.  Ariel Lockshaw got the start in the cage and made six saves as well as three steals.

Sonoma State will play Cal State Monterey Bay in the fifth place game tomorrow (Sunday, April 28) at 11:00 am to wrap up the WWPA Tournament.  The Seawolves won the season series over the Otters 2-1.  For more information on the WWPA Championship Tournament including scores, pictures, and the tournament bracket, visit thewwpa.com/thewwpa/2013_Womens_Championship.html
