Seawolves Start Season With Two Wins At Coyote Classic

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. 
--  The Sonoma State volleyball team opened up their 2013 schedule with a pair of wins on Friday afternoon at the Coyote Classic in San Bernardino.  The Seawolves swept past Fort Lewis in three before downing Harding in four to improve to 2-0 on the young season.  The event wraps up with a pair of games on Saturday.

Sonoma State 3, Fort Lewis 0 -- Box Score

The Seawolves had little trouble dispensing of Fort Lewis in Friday's opener.  Led by nine kills from Kelsey Hull and seven from Madelyn Densberger, Ashley Robinson, and Rachel Andrews, the Seawolves cruised to a three-set sweep (25-18, 25-11, 25-18). 

Devin Shaver and Hayley Ross shared setting duties, combining for 33 assists on the day.  Densberger and Nicole Gragnola each had eight digs and Robinson was big at the net, finishing with four blocks.

Sonoma State 3, Harding 1 -- Box Score

The Seawolves had to dig a bit deeper in their second match of the day as the first two games went down to the wire.  Sonoma took the first 25-23 before Harding captured the second, 26-24.  After that, however, the Seawolves regained control, winning the third and fourth sets 25-14 and 25-16. 

Sonoma State got big performances from Caylie Seitz (19 kills), Kelsey Hull (14 kills), and Regan Richert (12 kills) against the Lady Bisons.  Shaver led the way with 32 assists, Densberger had 17 kills and five blocks.

The Seawolves will conclude play at the Coyote Classic tomorrow against Regis (12:00) and Central Washington (5:00).
