Jourdan Weiks went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI in Tuesday's non-conference loss to Lewis-Clark State.
BOX SCORE Lewis-Clark State 7, Sonoma State 6 -- Box Score

ROHNERT PARK --
The Sonoma State baseball team brought 12 batters to the plate in the bottom of the third inning and scored six runs on five hits to break a scoreless tie, but visiting Lewis-Clark State, the No. 3-ranked team in NAIA, put seven runs up on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth and held on to defeat the host Seawolves, 7-6, in non-conference action on Tuesday at Seawolf Diamond.

The two teams were scheduled to play a doubleheader, but after a late start due to morning rain showers and wet field conditions throughout the day, the second game was cancelled and will not be rescheduled.  With the loss, Sonoma State snaps its five-game win streak, falling to 14-10 this season.  Lewis-Clark State have now won nine of its last 10, improving to 20-5.

After delaying the start of the game for an hour, the two teams would be scoreless going into the bottom of the third, but not before the Seawolves threatened for a couple of runs almost immediately.  After two quick outs, Alex Crosby singled before Garrett Schwartz and Justin Serrao walked to load the bases.  However, Warrior starter Cody Chartrand stuckout Wesley Wallace to end the inning.

In the bottom of the third, SSU began its rally with one out when Crosby got hit by the first pitch he saw.  Schwartz followed with a double, then Serrao brought home Crosby on a groundout to the short stop.  With two outs and a 1-0 lead, Wallace doubled home a run, Tyler Glenn was hit by the pitch, Steven Moen had an RBI single, Jourdan Weiks laced an RBI double to left field, Jackson Stogner walked and, with the bases loaded, Daniel Caresio plated two more runs with a single to left field, putting Sonoma State up big, 6-0.

In the top of the fourth, SSU starter Blake Sack got two quick outs on just four pitches, but things began to fall apart as LCSC brought home seven runs on four hits and five walks given up by Sack, Casey Bounsall and Blake Aldrete, all with two outs.

From then on, neither team could get much more offense going and despite giving up 13 base hits to Sonoma State, Lewis-Clark State held on for narrow 7-6 win.  The Warriors, from Lewiston, Idaho, used six different pitchers in the victory, getting the victory from Carsen Nylund, who improved to 3-0 on the year.  LCSC ace Michael Noteware came out of the bullpen to work the final two innings and earn the save; he gave up two hits and struckout four.

It was the largest deficit erased by the LCSC Warriors since wiping out a 9-1 Linfield lead in 2001, going on to win 10-9.

For the Seawolves, 24 different players saw some action for head coach John Goelz, including four different pitchers.  Sack went the first three and two-thirds innings, before Bounsall, Aldrete and Taylor Toccalino took the mound on Tuesday.  Bounsall (0-1), who entered for Sack in the middle of Lewis-Clark State's seven-run inning, gave up the final three LCSC runs and was tagged with the loss.

Offensively, both Moen and Weiks led the way for SSU with two hits and an RBI.  Nine other Seawolves recorded a hit in the loss as well.

Sonoma State will jump back into CCAA play on Friday when it hosts No. 10 Cal Poly Pomona (20-6, 13-6 CCAA) for a four-game series.  Friday's game is set for 2:00 pm, followed by an 11:00 am doubleheader on Saturday before wrapping up the series with a single game on Sunday, also at 11:00 am, all at Seawolf Diamond.
