SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The Sonoma State women's water polo team shook off a slow start and raced past Cal Lutheran for a 16-8 victory before a late rally against Santa Clara came up short in a 12-9 loss to recap Sunday's action at Sullivan Aquatic Center in Santa Clara. The Seawolves snapped an eight-match losing streak with the afternoon triumph against the Regals, but the evening loss to the host Broncos has put SSU's overall record at 2-10 this season.
Carleigh Robinson caged six goals on Sunday to lead all Sonoma State players, including four against Santa Clara, which is receiving votes in this week's CWPA Top 20 Coaches' Poll.
Noelle Herrera netted four goals in the Seawolves' victory over Cal Lutheran to complement four others with two goals each.
Andrea Mallul made 13 saves in goal for Sonoma on the day.
