Robinson Nets Hat Trick, But Seawolves Fall To Harvard, 14-4

ROHNERT PARK -- Carleigh Robinson scored a team-high three goals, but the Sonoma State women's water polo team suffered a 14-4 loss to visiting Harvard on Sunday at Rudloff Pool on the SSU campus.  The Seawolves fall to 7-13 overall while the Crimson rises to 12-5 on the year.

Harvard scored the first six goals to take a 6-0 lead midway through the second period of play, but back-to-back goals by Robinson closed the gap to four at 6-2.  It would be as close as Sonoma State would get, however, as the Crimson allowed just one goal in the second half, getting their eight-match California roadtrip started with the 10-point victory.

Robinson scored twice in the second quarter and once in the third quarter to complete the hat trick.  Noelle Herrera also added a goal in the second quarter, but that would be the extent of the offense for the host Seawolves on Sunday.  Andrea Mallul made seven saves in the loss.

For Harvard, Melissa Balding led all players with four goals and three others tallied two goals each.

Sonoma State will wrap up its three-match homestand on Monday at 3:00 pm when it hosts Marist at Rudloff Pool.  For the first time in program history, the match will be streamed live on the Seawolf Sports Network.
