ROHNERT PARK -- Lyndsie Williams scored a team-high four goals, but the Sonoma State women's water polo team suffered a 17-7 loss to 10th-ranked UC Santa Barbara on Thursday evening at the Dr. G. Edward Rudloff Pool in Rohnert Park. The Seawolves fell to 6-14 on the year while the NCAA Division I Gauchos improved to 14-6.
Sonoma played a tough first half, pulling to within two goals at 6-4 when
Lily Carlon found the back of the net at the 2:37 mark of the second quarter, but UCSB scored six unanswered goals and outscored SSU 11-3 the rest of the way to cruise to the victory over the host Seawolves.
Sonoma State will be back in action Sunday when it hosts No. 20 Harvard at 10:00 am.
