FINAL RESULTS
LINCOLN, Calif. -- Cristina Picariello secured her highest-ever finish in a collegiate tournament, taking second place at this week's Mikuni Sushi Shootout hosted by Holy Names at Catta Verdera Country Club in Lincoln. Picariello fired a 12-over-par 154 to pace the Sonoma State women's golf team to a fourth place finish in the 36-hole event.
Picariello fired rounds of 78 and 76 to tie with Chico State's Clare Brady at 154 (+12), but by virtue of a better second-round score, Picariello captured the runner-up trophy over Brady. She also led the tournament field with 22 pars. They finished behind individual medalist Anahi Servin of Academy of Art, who carded a 149 (+7) to win by five shots. Servin led the Urban Knights to the team title with an overall score of 617 (+49). The Seawolves scored a 641 (+73) for the week, finishing behind Academy of Art, Chico State (635; +67) and Holy Names (638; +70).
Sabrina Virtusio tied for 14th with an 80-82=162 (+20), tying teammate
Jasmine Monas (80-82=162; +20), who rolled in the second-most birdies this week with five.
Julia Peters was the only competitor of the field of 46 that scored an eagle on any hole, finishing in a tie for 18th place with an 82-81=163 (+21).
Karine O'Neal (85-87) and
Rio Smith (81-91), both competing as individuals, tied for 29th with a 172 (+30).
Allyson Musser came in 39th place with a 94-89=183 (+41) while
Natalie Widjaja took 46th place with a 100-94=194 (+52) for the week.
Sonoma State will take two weeks off from competition before heading to Vallejo to take part in the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout on Mar. 5-6.
