Four Fourth Period Goals Complete SSU's 10-7 Comeback

SEASIDE, Calif. – Sonoma State Water Polo netted a comeback win on Saturday, scoring four goals in the final period to defeat Cal State Monterey Bay 10-7 on the road.

Box Score: Sonoma State 10, CSU Monterey Bay 7

Lily Carlon and Cassidy Mundt led the Seawolves during the game, scoring three goals each. Five of those goals proved  to be game-tying or go-ahead goals. Carlon, got the scoring started, putting the Seawolves up 1-0 before the Otters tied things up with 3:07 left in the first period. After going down a goal, Mundt tied things up at two, kick starting an exchange of goals through the end of the second period. Entering the third, the score remained knotted at four a piece before Mundt started off the period with a pair of back-to-back goals. A brief 6-4 lead was lost as CSUMB countered with three goals before the fourth. However, the final period proved all Seawolves as Lily Carlon, Jordan Williams, Taylor Brown, and freshman Taylor Brooks each scored a goal in the final 4:58, to secure the 10-7 win.

With the win, Sonoma State moves to 6-14 on the season and will return to action March 31, when they host Cal State East Bay for a 1:00 pm game at Dr. G. Edward Rudloff Pool.
