DURANGO, Colo. -- The Sonoma State women's golf team enjoyed a 30-stroke improvement in Tuesday's second round as four of the five Seawolves carded scores in the 70's, led by the five-over par 77 from
Julia Peters, but Sonoma still remains 12th out of 12 teams with 18 holes to play at the 2018 NCAA Division II Super Region 4 Tournament at Hillcrest Golf Club in Durango, Colo.
Through two rounds,
Jasmine Monas leads the team with a 16-over 160, besting Monday's round of 82 with a 78 on Tuesday to pull into a tie for 36th place on the individual leaderboard.
Lexi Nielsen and
Sabrina Virtusio both also brought in a round of 78 on Tuesday; Nielsen is tied for 47th with a 163 (+19), and Virtusio, who was disqualified from Monday's action, is in 65th place. With Peters' 77, she is now tied for 54th with a 36-hole score of 165 (+21), followed by
Cristina Picariello, who is tied for 59th with a 165 (+22) after firing an 82 on Tuesday.
As a team, Sonoma State has scored a 652 through the first two rounds, sitting eight strokes back of 11th place Cal State Monterey Bay. Dallas Baptist (597) is leading the regional and will enter Wednesday's final round with a 12 shot lead over second place California Baptist.
The third and final round of the 2018 NCAA Division II Super Region 4 Tournament for the Seawolves begins at 10:30 am MDT (9:30 am PDT) when Virtusio tees off from hole 10.
