SANTA ROSA, CALIF. - Sonoma State's women's golf team hosted the SSU Fall Invite at Valley of the Moon Club in Santa Rosa. The Seawolves placed fifth of the eight teams competing in the tournament. The first day was a perfect day for golf, sunny and a consistent breeze throughout the round. SSU could not capitalize on the scoring conditions and finished the first day at 21-over-par and sitting in sixth place.
Senior
Isley Grguric highlighted the first day for the Seawolves shooting a strong four-over-par 76 that had her tied for fifth. Senior
Samantha Smedshammer also had a strong showing as well shooting a six-over-par 78 that put her tied for twelfth going into day two. Smedshammer would finish tied for eighteenth place.
Freshman
Talia Gutman backed up her strong showing in Utah with another top 15 finish. Gutman struggled to get it going on day one, shooting an 11-over-par 83 but put it together on day two, firing a one-over-par 73, the low round for SSU during the tournament. This jumped her up the leaderboard 23 spots to tie for thirteenth, the highest finish for the Seawolves.
In their first tournament for the Seawolves freshman
Mia Golovich put together a solid seven-over-par 79. In the second round Golovich shot 80 and finished the tournament tied for twenty first.
Day two of the SSU Fall Invite started with a bang for senior
Courtney Cervellin who eagled her first hole of the day, making a two on the par four fourth. Cervellin had this to say about the shot, "I still couldn't see past 100 yards because of the fog but had 150 left in, I hit my six iron, I couldn't see it land but heard the rules official say 'it went in!'" She gave one back with a bogey on the next hole but birdied 10 and 11 to right the ship. After a couple doubles and a couple birdies Cervellin finished the day with a gritty five-over-par 77, and tied with Smedshammer at eighteenth place.
Junior
Amelia Gladys also shot a five-over-par 77 rebounding on day two after struggling slightly on day one with an 82. Freshman
Ashlyn Carpenter, who struggled on day one, came out the gates on day two on fire. After bogeying her third hole of the day, she followed it up with back-to-back birdies, putting her into red figures. She kept it together on her way to the clubhouse with an 11-over-par 83. Sophomore
Lauren Garcia had two birdies in round two on her way to a 10-over-par 82 and finished the tournament tied for twenty-sixth. Junior
