SANTA ROSA, CALIF. - On Tuesday, April 5th, the Sonoma State women's golf team finished in 4th place in their very own SSU Spring Invite. The Seawolves bounced back from a tough first day and shaved off 6 strokes on the final day to move into 4th place. After nobody recorded a score better than 3-over in the first round, 4 of the competing 10 SSU golfers would finish with a round of 75 or better to help the team earn a 4th place finish.
Senior golfer
Samantha Cabunag finished with a near flawless back nine recording 1 birdie and no bogeys to finish her final round with a 74 (+2). Cabunag would be the top finisher for the Seawolves as she t-4th individually in the tournament. Fellow senior
Lexi Nielsen recorded the team's low round of the tournament as she finished with 5 birdies in her second round good for a 73 (+1).
Samantha Smedshammer got off to a blazing start as she birdied 3 of her first 4 holes. She would finish the final round with a 74 (+2).
Another senior for the Seawolves,
Natalie Brugler, led the way for the individuals as she finished t-15th overall in the tournament and was the top finisher out of all 7 competing individuals. All 5 competing individuals for Sonoma State finished inside the top-35 in the tournament with Brugler,
Courtney Cervellin,
Isley Grguric, and
Lauren Garcia all finishing inside the top-30.

Val Verhunce and his squad will now look ahead and gear up for the CCAA Championships held at Yocha Dehe Golf Club starting on Monday, April 11th. The women will enter the conference tournament with two top-5 finishes and three top-10 finishes this spring.
