SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. - On saturday, May 7th, the Sonoma State women's track & field team finished day three of the CCAA championships and grabbed a top-10 finish out of the 12 competing schools. Their 10th place finish would go down as the program's best finish since the 2002 season where they earned 39 points as a team and finished alone in 8th place. Head coach
David Lawrence Jr. continues to take both the cross country and track & field programs to new heights and caps off an incredible athletic year with record finishes from both programs in their respective conference championships.
On day one, sophomore
Amber Lanza and freshman
Mia Oggenfuss highlighted the heptathlon as they competed in the 100 meter hurdles, 200 meters, 800 meters, long jump, high jump, javelin and shot put. Lanza and Oggenfuss would each record a top-3 finish in different events. Lanza earned a 2nd place finish out of 10 participants in the 100 meter hurdles as she recorded a time of 15.55 seconds.
