Track & Field Secures Best Program Finish Ever at CCAA Championships

TURLOCK, CALIF.- Sonoma State Track & Field put forth the program's best effort ever at the CCAA Track & Field Championships in Turlock, California. On top of a strong team performance multiple Seawolves dominated enroute to appearing on the podium.

A pair of Seawolves brought home first place medals with Ariyah Ford and Amber Walker. Ford dominated inside the throwing circle all weekend as she secured a third place finish earlier in the weekend during the hammer throw. She saved her best for last with a 45.29 meter throw in the discus that was close to three meters farther than the second place finisher.

Freshman Amber Walker has been a force in the high jump all year long and that trend continued at the championship meet where she won the event with a 1.69 meter jump that was just enough to edge out a pair of upperclassmen jumpers from Cal Poly Pomona.

Alongside Walker and Ford, Jazmine Severo and Melina Jones were also able to submit strong showings in the high jump and discus throw respectively. Both athletes would just miss the podium by a single place finishing fourth.

Sonoma posted their best team finish ever in program history at the CCAA while being led by Walker and Ford. They now turn their attention to potential continued postseason meets.
