WBB: McDonald Makes History with Back-to-Back POTW Awards, Third Total this Season

ROHNERT PARK, CALIF. - Sonoma State's Alli McDonald has earned a second consecutive CCAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week award, this time for the week of Jan. 2-8.

McDonald averaged 19 points and 8 rebounds per game to lead the Seawolves to two more victories, extending their winning streak to six games. 

The sophomore from Diamond Springs had 15 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists in last Thursday's win over San Francisco State. On Saturday, the forward put-up a game high 23 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double, plus four assists with two blocked shots, to help SSU beat Cal State Monterey Bay. It was her fifth double-double this season.

McDonald, who has now been named player of the week three times and currently leads the CCAA in rebounding at 9.3 per game. She's also third in field goal percentage (49.9) and second in blocked shots (1.4). McDonald becomes the first player in program history to win three conference POTW awards in a single season since Hall of Famer Jann Thorpe did so during the 1997-98 season. Her second straight Player of the Week award also makes her the first player ever in program history to win back-to-back weekly awards.
