AZUSA, CALIF. - On Thursday, April 13th, Sonoma State track & field member
Gianna Bomarito represented SSU as the lone participant at the Bryan Clay Invitational, hosted by PacWest member Azusa Pacific. After claiming the top time in all of Division II in the 10k event weeks prior, head coach
David Lawrence Jr. would send Bomarito south to compete in another competitive field with the conference championships fast approaching.
Bomarito would continue to put together one of the most dominant freshman campaigns in not just program history, but SSU athletics history, as she went on to break her own record that she set weeks prior at the Mangrum Invitational, and record a time of 34:05.73, good for 7th place overall. Bomarito would shave off roughly 16 seconds from her previous record breaking time last month as she now holds the top two times in program history in the 10k event and remains the only runner in program history to post sub 35-minute 10k times.
