ROHNERT PARK, CALIF. - Two races. Two victories. That's
Gianna Bomarito's resume thus far this season as the Sonoma State Seawolf has been named the CCAA Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second time in three weeks.
The sophomore from Clovis crossed the finish line first again, this time at the highly competitive Roy Griak Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota. Bomarito clocked in at 21:44.2 in the Women's Maroon 6K run, which featured all non-Division I teams including some nationally ranked Division II programs. Her time was 31 seconds better than runner-up Jessica Kampman of Dordt University.
This marks the second race win for Bomarito this season. Two weeks ago she won the Ash Creek Festival in Monmouth, Oregon, and was named the CCAA Runner of the Week as well. She now has four career CCAA Runner of the Week awards.
At the Roy Griak Invitational, the Seawolves ran against DII ranked teams such as No. 8 Augustana (S.D.), which won the team championship on Friday, No. 19 Wayne State, No. 20 Minnesota Duluth and No. 27 Minnesota State.
SSU will finish out their regular season at the San Francisco State Invite on Friday, October 6th. The event will be the team's final tune-up before the CCAA Championships on October 21st. Live stat/result links can be found at sonomaseawolves.com.
