ROHNERT PARK, CALIF. - On Saturday, May 4th, the annual Elite 13 award was announced for the women's track & field season. Sonoma State's Alex Boyle was named this year's Elite 13 award winner, representing the first Seawolf to win the award since Jacob Salinero claimed the honor for men's basketball in 2021. 

The Elite 13 Award, formerly the CCAA Championship Scholar Award, recognizes the academic and athletic achievement of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers.

Instituted in 2017-18, the award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the final CCAA championship site in each conference-sponsored sport. Boyle held an impressive GPA of 4.00 heading into the track & field championships last weekend. The junior mathematics major has been a part of the cross country and track & field programs since 2021. She becomes the first cross country/track & field member to win the award since Jasmine Casillas won it in cross country in 2017.
